Preparing your quilt
Please read the following advice to ensure your quilt is correctly prepared for quilting:
Please do not baste your quilt. We attach it to the frame as three separate layers and we will have to charge for unpicking.

Any embellishments such as buttons and beads should be removed. If you're going to add them, please do so once we've
returned your quilt. Embroidery is fine as long as it's sewn down and any flappy edges secured.

Ensure all loose thread ends are trimmed back and front. Stray dark threads will show through a light top.

Check all seams are joined together correctly. Check that your quilt lays flat and it is square and hangs well.
Long arm machines love a square quilt! The top and backing are attached to the frame at a perfect 90Ëš angle, so if your quilt
is out then the design will stitch slightly out too.

Pieced borders should be stabilized by stitching about 1/8″ in from the outer edge.

Backing supplied by you should be at least 6″ bigger than the top all round and should be squared and pressed.

Wadding supplied by you should also be at least 6″ bigger than the top all round. (i.e. 50" x 60" top = 62" x 72" wadding).
This ensures there is plenty of space to work in when the quilt is mounted on the frame.

If your quilt is directional, please pin a note at the top with a safety pin.

Seams should be pressed in the desired direction, particularly important if stitch in the ditch is required. Any seams that are
parting and need re-stitching may incur extra charges. Seams pressed open that require stitch in the ditch may result in the
piecing threads being cut as we sew along those and not the fabric. Please ensure seams are pressed to the side if ditch
work is required.
If your quilt top has a final border, try and allow a little extra width, so that your quilted top can be trimmed to make a perfect
straight edge ready for your binding. If you have inserted a flange, please sew this down.

If your quilt has a flange, we suggest you sew this down as the machine foot can get stuck or flip the flange the wrong way.
If you are joining fabric then please make the joining seam around 1/2 inch wide and press seam open. Selvedges should of
course be removed. Also, ensure this fabric is square (i.e. has corners at 90 degrees).
